Hill International is providing project management services for the expansion of Assan Port in southern Türkiye. Work includes a variety of projects aimed at improving the port’s infrastructure and operations to keep pace with shipping demand. The expansion aims to increase the port’s cargo handling capacity from 250,000 TEUs to approximately 400,000 TEUs. Specific projects include:

Off-Dock Container Yard and Marine Side Container Yard Construction: The project team is constructing a 50,000 SM off-dock container yard equipped with electric rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. This will expand the port’s container stacking capacity, enabling efficient handling of Panamax, Post-Panamax, and Super Post-Panamax vessels.

The project team is also constructing another 50,000 SM marine-side container stacking area in two phases. This project will help optimize stacking operations, streamlining container handling processes for increased efficiency.

Hill is providing project management services for the two construction projects.

Jetty Expansion: Hill is managing the design process for a jetty expansion project, which will improve berthing capabilities and vessel handling at the port.

Post-Earthquake Hazard Assessment: Hill is leading a study and engineering procurement for a comprehensive Post-Earthquake Hazard Assessment. This assessment will identify potential risks and propose measures to enhance the port’s resilience to seismic events.

As project manager, Hill is helping monitor the projects’ costs, budgets, and quality performance and provides crucial support for mechanical and electrical works, project controls, and contract management. Based out of Istanbul, the Hill team leverages global best practices and local experience to deliver the port’s expansion projects efficiently.
