Hill provided post-contract estimating and quantity surveying services for the Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas project, which involved the construction of a 141-key hotel on a 12-acre campus in northern India. The Marriot-operated hotel features balcony rooms, garden suites, and private villas, as well as multiple dining options, an infinity pool, a fitness center, a spa, a kids club, and scenic landscaping. Overlooking the Ganges River and situated amidst the scenic Sivalik Hills of the outer Himalayas, the luxury hotel provides guests with a unique experience of Rishikesh, an important pilgrimage town for Hindus and the Yoga Capital of the World.

In close coordination with Mahananda’s project manager, the Hill team reviewed and certified payments, made recommendations on and helped negotiate rates for non-tendered items, revalidated quantities, and monitored all post-contract costs. These efforts contributed to cost savings for the client. Due to challenges related to the hilly site’s geography, Mahananda’s project team revised the project’s good for construction (GFC) drawings multiple times. By collating all of this design information, Hill developed a 3D model to facilitate the accurate reconciliation of project quantities. Hill also valuated interim payment applications, helping Mahananda achieve optimal cash flow. In addition, Hill provided a list of lessons learned for the client to implement on future projects, including recommendations on contract documents, scheduling, procurement, and more.
