Gonzalo de Diego Barrenechea has joined Hill International (NYSE:HIL), the global leader in managing construction risk, as Vice President Business Development Lead Europe.
With more than 20 years of management and technical experience in transportation infrastructure engineering, De Diego Barrenechea has a proven track record of growing sustainable businesses by winning and delivering projects. His experience includes successes in Eastern Europe, China, South and Central America, Africa, Singapore, and Australia. Most recently, De Diego Barrenechea has focused his efforts on the European markets, delivering positive results despite of challenging market conditions.
De Diego Barrenecheawill be located in Hill’s Madrid, Spain office.
“Gonzalo will be working with Hill International in developing and growing our business in Europe,” said Imad Ghantous, PE, Senior Vice President Business Development, International. “Working collaboratively with our existing business development team in Europe and the operations team, Gonzalo brings in a wealth of experience in large infrastructure projects which is in line with our strategy for growth, sustainability, and diversification.”
In an executive capacity, De Diego Barrenechea has managed international business, leading the expansion into different markets and geographic locations. His successful approach to the US market originated the acquisition of the firm he was working for by global industry leader, AECOM.
He has experience in design and build project management, as well as multidisciplinary design team management spanning civil engineering sectors. De Diego Barrenechea has a MSc in civil engineering from the Politytechnical University of Madrid and an Executive MBA from Instituto de Empresa of Madrid (IE).
