Hill celebrates 20th year in Dubai

Hill in Dubai: 20 Years of Teamwork

September 20, 2021 marks Hill’s 20th anniversary in Dubai, UAE. During these two decades, Hill has helped owners in the emirate realize transformative projects on time, within budget, and as envisioned. Hill’s first project outside of the U.S. was in neighboring Abu Dhabi—the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque. After an impressive performance on this megaproject, the company quickly found work in the booming construction market of Dubai. Starting from an office in the Sultan Business Centre, Hill moved to the Al Yamamah Tower, then to the Al Gurg Tower before finding its current home in the Marina Plaza of the Dubai Marina district.

No matter where their office has been, the Hill team in Dubai has helped deliver iconic projects throughout the emirate, such as the Palm Islands and the World Islands. To support such complex and conspicuous projects, Hill has cultivated a strong team of dedicated and highly qualified professionals. “The Hill team in Dubai is a family,” adds Bassem Merchi, Vice President of Dubai and Northern Emirates Projects.

“We have great harmony amongst our project staff, office personnel, and senior management,” Merchi continues. “This teamwork has kept Hill as one of the premier project and construction management firms in Dubai for 20 years now, and with all of this talent, I know we will go on winning new projects with existing and new clients.”

Ayat Nasrallah, who serves as Director of HR for the Middle East out of Hill’s Dubai office, says: “When I think of the 11 years I’ve been with Hill, I think of the incredible experiences I’ve had with my colleagues. We’ve had unforgettable moments celebrating new projects and meeting new employees who became our long-term co-workers.

Hill Dubai Office Manager Maria Christina Reyes echoes Merchi’s and Nasrallah’s words, recollecting most strongly the spirit of camaraderie during her 13 years with Hill. She says: “I feel like I belong to a family at Hill. The working environment has always been very healthy.”

Proposal Coordinator Geneva De Torres agrees, noting how, despite global economic turmoil and the COVID-19 pandemic, Hill remained strong and even continued to grow. “We wouldn’t have been able to do that without this team,” she says. “More than just keeping our company strong, we have supported one another as individuals throughout this difficult time.

“I trust the leadership who continually exhibit a positive influence on the company’s direction and stability. The culture, team, and working environment makes the employee feel they are a part of something special, valued and motivated. Hill also offers opportunities and tools for self-improvement, which is equally beneficial for both the company and the individual.”

Congratulations on 20 years to the Hill team in Dubai! Your legacy, built on a solid foundation of teamwork, demonstrates what it means to be a part of Hill International.
