Hill conducted a feasibility and constructability study to determine if and how to add nine additional patient bed floors and one mechanical floor to MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Albert B. and Margaret M. Alkek Hospital in Houston, TX. The addition to the 12-story building, located on the campus of the Texas Medical Center in central Houston, met growing demand for cancer care in both Houston and greater Texas.

The project included 8 new inpatient floors that accommodate more than 300 additional inpatient and post-anesthesia patients, as well as new nursing stations and dedicated pharmacy facilities. A mechanical floor was also built, and renovations were made to the twelfth floor and other areas of the hospital. In all, the project added 478,000 SF to the existing hospital. Another 200,000 SF of space was renovated.
