Project Value $400 Million

In conjunction with the University College London (UCL) Medical School and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Health system, the SJFMEI Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Saudi Jordanian Investment Fund (SJIF), is undertaking the $400 million Kingdom Health Project to establish a new integrated healthcare and academic campus in Amman. Envisioned as one of the region’s most advanced, the campus will provide high-quality care at affordable prices for patients, elevate the quality of medical education in Jordan, and further position the country as a regional hub for medical excellence and innovation.

The Kingdom Health Project is located along Airport Road near the Ghamadan area of Amman, facilitating access for patients and students from throughout the region. The new campus will include a 330-bed hospital, 72 outpatient clinics, a children’s hospital, and a medical university for 600 students. The project will also deliver dormitories for staff and students, a health and wellness center, and multiple specialty facilities for advanced scientific research. The SJFMEI is implementing the project under a build-operate-transfer model. Once the investment period ends, the SJFMEI will transfer ownership of the campus to the Jordanian government.

The project will deliver five centers of excellence in cardiology, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics. These fields encompass some of the most common and fastest-growing non-communicable diseases in the region. In parallel, four dedicated research centers will support innovation in genomics and precision medicine, stem cell and regenerative medicine, public health systems, and bioinformatics. Additionally, the SJFMEI plans to reinvest a percentage of project revenue to support research and development activities throughout Jordan.

The SJFMEI selected Hill to provide construction management services for the project. Our scope includes design reviews, schedule and budget management, estimating, value engineering, procurement support, tracking and reporting, third-party coordination, document control, communications management, inspections, permit verification, quality assurance/quality control, risk management, health and safety monitoring, and other services as needed to help ensure all work adheres to contract documents and owner requirements. Notably, the Hill team has helped accelerate the project by providing support for early work packages, such as soil testing and site preparation. We have also helped coordinate and track long-lead items to keep the project on track.
