Hill is providing technical assistance for multiple wastewater projects in Galati County, Romania. Galati is in the eastern part of Romania and is home to more than 500,000 residents, including more than 304,000 residents in the capital city of Galati. Once complete, the projects will improve water and sewage infrastructure in Galati to meet the conformity obligations under the Accession Treaty with the European Union. Specific projects include rehabilitating and/or constructing water mains, pumping stations, and water management facilities; extending the water supply network; building new wastewater treatment plants; building drinking water treatment plants; and building SCADA systems for county water supply networks.
Hill’s support is organized into two general categories: assistance during project implementation and supervision during construction. The project implementation scope includes supporting procurement and supply of equipment, public awareness and project advertising, updating the sludge management strategy, updating the industrial wastewater strategy, managing industrial wastewater studies, and updating the hydraulic modelling and GIS system. During construction, Hill will supervise pre-construction, mobilization, document review and control, and close-out. This includes preparing the inception report, the Supervision Procedure Manual, and the Quality Assurance Manual, among other documents; supervising preconstruction activities; supervising construction activities such as progress monitoring and inspections, change management, and claims resolution; and supervising post-construction activities such as site inspections and issuing certifications.
