Services Construction Management

Project Value $20 million

Hill provided construction management services for the planning, design, and construction of a new Minor League Baseball stadium in Lakewood, NJ. The project was divided into several phases, including site work, structural steel, and general construction, and was completed on schedule and within budget. Hill acted as agent for the Lakewood Development Corporation to represent and protect its interests throughout the design and construction of the facility.

The open-air, 6,588-seat stadium features sloping roof lines and slate rock, reminiscent of Victorian-era buildings with wide concourses to reduce crowd congestion. Inside the stadium, there are 20 luxury suites as well as large private-party entrances. A free-standing restaurant seats 150 people and has outside seating for 200. Picnic areas provide additional seating for 540 people. Easy access for guests with disabilities is provided by a service road on the east side of the stadium. In addition, the site includes 2,500 parking spaces. The stadium was built on 53 acres in an industrial park and is home to the Lakewood Blue Claws, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Lakewood Development Corporation selected Hill to act as their agent because of Hill’s extensive project management experience on similar facilities. Hill oversaw the project through all phases of construction and provided a variety of services, including contractor oversight, inspection, progress reporting, and monitoring budget and schedule performance. In addition, Hill was responsible for the permit application process, review of cost estimates, contract solicitation and administration, and change management.

The project won a Project Achievement Award for Public Projects with Constructed Value Less Than $50 Million from CMAA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

“On behalf of the Development Corporation and indeed of all the residents of Lakewood, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for demonstrating leadership and the highly professional, performance of construction management services on the project.” -Russell K. Corby, Executive Director, Lakewood Development Corp.
