Hill Overseeing Construction of Luxury Residential Development in Mexico City

Hill International has been awarded a contract from Grupo Desarrolla to oversee the construction of Club Residencial Bosques, a luxury residential development in Mexico City.

The $20.7 million project will deliver high-end residential towers in the city’s Bosques de las Lomas district, an area marked by lush greenery and picturesque hills overlooking the city and mountains beyond. The development is being built on an 84,000 square meter plot surrounded by oak trees, and includes 69,000 square meters of amenities and green space.

The residential towers are the final piece of a larger development surrounding a striking new golf course. Club Residencial Bosques is also one of several new residential developments that ring the city, and is part of a larger redevelopment transforming the city into a premiere place to live and work.

With 22 million residents, Mexico City and its environs are ranked as the third-largest metropolitan area in the world. The city is also the world’s largest Spanish-speaking metropolis. Like other global cities, Mexico City is growing as people relocate from the suburbs or more rural areas.

Travelers also are flocking to the gentrifying city. In 2015, an estimated 6.3 million people visited Mexico City—up from 4.9 million people in 2012. Visits in 2016 are expected to be even higher, as even more travelers discover the city’s eclectic mix of ancient and new.

The majority of Mexico City’s residents are millennials aged 18 to 34, who are part of a quickly growing middle class. The city’s transformation is being boosted by a growing economy. With a gross domestic product of $490.6 billion (USD), Mexico City is now one of the largest economies in the world. New office buildings, residential towers, restaurants and shops have sprouted up throughout the city over the past five years, and more are planned.

Club Residencial Bosques is the third such development that Hill has managed in Mexico City. Work on the project began in February, and is expected to be completed by late 2018.

“This high-rise residential project is unique because of the complex logistics,” said Project Manager Alejandro Castillo. “The constrained size of the site leaves little room for simultaneous activities, such as excavation, foundation construction and placement of carriages and columns.”

“We are honored that Grupo Desarolla has selected Hill to oversee this exciting project, one that will further Mexico City’s growing economy and reputation as a world-class city,” said Luis Lugo, Jr., Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Hill’s Southeast U.S. and Latin America operations.

“Mexico, and Mexico City in particular, are areas of great opportunity for Hill,” Lugo added. “As Mexico City continues to grow, opportunities for all types of construction will grow as well. We see a role for Hill in nearly every market sector here, including the commercial, residential, educational, healthcare, cultural, hospitality, infrastructure and transportation markets.”
